Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about grooming procedures, preparing your dog, and the opening hours of our Glenboig and Holytown salons.

Grooming procedures

What happens before, during and after your appointment.

What happens during a full grooming appointment?

We start with a hands-on consultation to check your dog's coat, skin and behaviour. Your dog is then bathed with a shampoo matched to their coat type, dried, brushed out, and clipped or scissored to breed style or your preference. We finish with nails, ears, paw pads and a optional bow or bandana. We message you when your dog is ready for collection.

What is the difference between a full groom and a tidy-up?

A full groom includes a bath, blow-dry, full-body clip or scissor and full finishing. A tidy-up is a shorter appointment that focuses on the face, feet, sanitary area and light shaping between full grooms.

How long does a grooming appointment take?

A full groom usually takes 2 to 3 hours depending on breed, coat condition and temperament. Ozone spa treatments are booked separately and take 1 to 2 hours. We give you a more accurate estimate when your dog arrives.

What is hand stripping and do all dogs need it?

Hand stripping is a traditional technique for wire-coated breeds where dead coat is removed by hand to preserve correct texture and colour. It is not suitable for all coats, so we will advise whether it is right for your dog.

How do you handle matted coats?

We assess whether mats can be brushed out comfortably. Severe matting can restrict movement and hide skin problems, so we may recommend a shorter clip for your dog's welfare. We always discuss this with you before proceeding.

Will my dog be sedated?

No. We use gentle handling, patience and positive reinforcement. For anxious or senior dogs we allow extra time and may suggest a few short familiarisation visits.

Preparing your dog

Simple steps to make every visit calm and safe.

How should I prepare my dog before a grooming appointment?

A short walk and toilet break before arriving are helpful. Avoid a large meal immediately beforehand. Bring your dog on a secure lead or in a safe carrier, and let us know about any allergies, anxiety, arthritis or other health concerns.

Should I brush my dog before coming?

Regular brushing at home helps reduce tangles, but do not worry if you cannot keep on top of it. We will safely detangle your dog during the appointment and can advise on the right brush for home use.

Can I bring my puppy for their first groom?

Yes. We recommend an introductory puppy session from 12 to 16 weeks of age, once vaccinations are underway. The first visit is kept short and positive so your puppy learns that grooming is safe and enjoyable.

What if my dog is nervous or reactive?

Tell us when you book. We set aside extra time, avoid rushing, and use calm, one-to-one handling. Some dogs benefit from a couple of short familiarisation visits before their first full groom.

Do I need to bring anything with my dog?

Just your dog and a secure lead or carrier. We provide all professional equipment, shampoos, conditioners and treatments. If it is your first visit, vaccination details are useful.

Are vaccinations required?

We ask that dogs are up to date with their vaccinations or have a current titre-test certificate. This protects your dog, other dogs in the salon and our team.

How do I book or change an appointment?

The easiest way is to book online through Fresha. You can also call your chosen salon directly, message us on WhatsApp, or use the contact form on this website.

What is your cancellation policy?

We appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to change your appointment. This lets us offer the slot to another dog. Repeated late cancellations may require a deposit for future bookings.

Our salons & locations

Glenboig and Holytown — two salons, one standard of care.

What is the difference between the Glenboig and Holytown salons?

Both salons deliver the same grooming quality, service menu and ozone spa treatments. The Glenboig salon is a dedicated container unit in Glenboig near Coatbridge, while the Holytown salon is on Main Street in the centre of Holytown. Choose whichever is easier to reach.

Which salon should I choose?

Choose the location that is most convenient. Glenboig is ideal for clients around Coatbridge and the surrounding area, while Holytown is central for Motherwell, Bellshill and nearby towns. Both are run to the same standard by Sylvia and her team.

Do both salons offer ozone spa treatments?

Yes. Both salons offer the Tauro Pro Line 6-in-1 ozone spa, combining ozone-enriched water, hydro-massage, milky spa, light therapy, air ioniser and deep cleaning.

How much does grooming cost?

Prices depend on breed, coat condition and the service chosen. A full price list is available in each salon. For an estimate, book a consultation or send us a message with your dog's breed and a coat photo.

Do you groom cats?

Yes. We offer cat grooming in a calm, quiet environment, including bathing, blow-dry, de-matting, nail trims and sanitary trims.
